Conroy launches ICT Careers Week
The federal Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, has launched 2011 National ICT Careers Week at the at CeBIT Australia in Sydney which is to be held held from 25 – 31 July.
Under the branding of “ICT: Start Here, Go Anywhere”, participating organisations of this year’s National ICT Careers Week are encouraged to organise events or activities not only during the week but also throughout the year to showcase the variety of careers available in ICT to young people.
In 2011 over 80 participating organisations will host events across Australia to showcase ICT career opportunities.
Philip Callil, President of the Victorian IT Teachers Association said “We have proudly supported the National ICT Careers Week since its inception four years ago. During the careers week this year we have many exciting events planned, with a major event at Federation Square in Melbourne on 27 July that will include an ICT Careers Expo, workshops and seminars for students and a showcase of innovations in ICT and education. VITTA will also host an ICT Bus Tour for teachers to showcase the diverse range of ICT careers available to students.”
