Hays Quarterly Report finds strong demand for IT professionals
Recruitment specialist Hays has published its Quarterly Report – October 2011, finding that professionals with specific experience with Microsoft based software development top the list of skills in demand as job vacancies rise in many areas.
According to the report, vacancy activity remains strong in many sectors such as FMCG and the heavy industries such as mining, oil & gas and mining services organisations.
“Top quality candidates are still in demand and securing jobs. Some organisations might consider reviewing their hiring needs this quarter, however those wanting to maximise growth in the near term are unlikely to alter their recruitment plans,” Grahame Doyle, Director of Hays, said.
“Without doubt the greatest hotspot in our market is for candidates with experience in the resources industry. This demand extends far beyond engineering talent to the whole resources chain, from exploration through to construction, fabrication and exporting. It also extends to support staff, from IT to HR and office support.
The report found that Microsoft web developers, iPhone application and SharePoint developers, Citirix specialists, Windows Server administrators and engineers, LTE technology candidatates, project and program managers and business analysts are experiencing growing nationwide demand.
Information technology demand in the public sector
The report found that demand for helpdesk and desktop support candidates will remain strong since various projects are being undertaken and the departure of existing staff creates continuous replacement needs. In addition, many organisations have identified the need to increase headcount to improve their level of customer service.
The report found that professionals experienced in Windows 7 assistence are in strong demand as government departments begin to transition from Windows XP to Windows 7.
iPads are being implemented as a new tool to aid public sector staff, which is fuelling demands for the appropriate staff.
“Project Managers and Business Analysts are sought to lead new projects and focus on process improvement and cost efficiency across government. Senior Infrastructure Project Managers are also sought as Cenitex continues to expand, while Client Engagement and Account Managers are needed to build strong partnerships between government departments and Cenitex,” the report concluded.
