New tech boss for SA
A public sector veteran has been announced as South Australia’s new chief information security officer.
The SA Government advertised the newly-created CISO position earlier this year in the hope of bringing the leadership of South Australia's cyber security and risk assurance activities into unity.
Public sector cyber security veteran David Goodman has taken the job after leaving his previous role as acting director of cyber security and risk within the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC).
Before that, he had worked for nearly a decade in IT security for the state's health service.
Goodman is still within DPC for the CISO role, reporting to the director of the Office for Customer, ICT and Digital Transformation for the department.
One of his first tasks will be to develop a whole-of-government information security strategy, and set up a cyber security centre of excellence for service provision.
The appointment is similar to moves at the NSW government, which recently appointed former AUSTRAC CIO Maria Milosavljevic as NSW’s first chief information security officer.
