Tech upgrades are set to improve emergency response services in NSW.

The NSW Police Force has officially launched ‘BluLink’, a new platform that allows the public to livestream with police dispatchers and officers.

BluLink allows people in emergency situations to transmit GPS coordinates, live video streams, digital media files, and text messages directly to police via a link sent by Triple Zero (000) dispatchers.

“BluLink gives them unrivalled access to a scene before they’ve even arrived,” said NSW Minister for Police and Counterterrorism, Yasmin Catley.

With police receiving over 1,500 emergency calls daily, Catley says the platform will help in better triaging and responding to incidents.

During its 12-month trial across select Metropolitan and Regional Commands, which began in February 2023, BluLink has already proved instrumental in several key operations.

For instance, it facilitated the investigation into the Bondi Junction stabbing in April 2024 by allowing police to review uploaded footage and CCTV.

The platform was also used to locate over 60 missing bushwalkers and assisted in the rescue of several individuals in precarious situations, such as a stranded skier on Mount Tate and a 14-year-old boy whose kayak was sinking off the coast of Clifton.

Assistant Commissioner Stacey Maloney says that with the community playing a role as “our eyes and ears” in emergencies, BluLink can streamline the flow of critical information to the police.

BluLink is powered by a system called GoodSAM - a tech provider specifically for emergency services and first responders.
