Our IT Security team is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Identity Engineer to join our growing team on a permanent full-time basis located at our Head Office in Preston.
About the role
Reporting into the Identity Product Owner, the Senior Identity Engineer is tasked with leading the organisation's identity and access management (IAM) strategy, focusing on strategic initiatives to enhance the identity posture of the business. This includes providing high-level guidance and advisory on the customer identity management platform to ensure it aligns with best practices and security standards. The role requires a blend of technical understanding and strategic insight to drive IAM projects and improvements across the organization.
In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of IAM initiatives that enhance security, governance, and operational efficiency. As the subject matter expert, you will guide the organisation towards a more mature identity posture, providing leadership on large-scale IAM projects and ensuring alignment with broader business and security goals.
Role Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing strategic IAM initiatives to enhance security, governance, and efficiency.
- Lead the evaluation, design, and deployment of IAM technologies and processes.
- Work closely with IT teams and the Business Analyst to translate identity requirements into technical specifications, designing and implementing IAM solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing business processes and systems.
- Lead the advancement of IAM practices, including identity lifecycle management, access governance, and privileged access management, while optimising the configuration and settings of IAM security controls
- Provide senior guidance to less experienced security administrators.
- Perform high-level troubleshooting and analysis to identify the root cause of IAM incidents.
Skills and Experience
- Preferred: Bachelor in Cybersecurity/Information Technology field or equivalent ideal
- Desirable: Industry Certificates in the in IAM, such as CIAM, CIGE, or similar. Information Security, Cybersecurity fields
- Extensive experience in IAM, including identity governance, access management, and privilege access management.
- Strong understanding of IAM technologies and standards (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
- Experience with cloud identity services (e.g., Okta, Azure AD, Ping, SailPoint, Saviynt etc).
- Experience with NIST Cybersecurity Framework or ISO27001 security frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience in security administration, analyst, engineering roles
- Good working knowledge of network security, operating system security, cybersecurity fundamentals
- Good working knowledge of large infrastructure environments, cloud platforms and cloud security
- Creativity and attention to detail, thinking out of the box.
- Good general IT and Computer skills
