The Role
ASD is maturing its architecture practice and is seeking a range of skills. Successful candidates will have one or more domain experience in Business, Data/Information, Application, Technology, Network, Cloud, Security or Enterprise Architecture.

Offers of employment may be made at either ASD6, EL1 or EL2 level depending on the applicant’s skills and experiences. 

ASD continues to grow and is always looking for talented people to join its mission. The following are examples of roles where you could apply your expertise:

Business Architect

  • Provides internal management consultancy services for design thinking, business modelling, ecosystem modelling, innovation management, IT investment analysis, and operating model design.
  • Facilitates development of the intersection of ICT investment with business/mission solutions that combine knowledge of business capabilities, value streams and business processes.
  • Facilitates agreement on organizational work models and processes to meet business/mission requirements.
  • Helps develop a governance plan for ensuring that business architecture is a primary input to the development of other architectural viewpoints. 
  • Collaborates with infrastructure and project teams to ensure continuous delivery of business outcomes.
  • Works with key organisational stakeholders, enterprise and domain architects, to leverage integrated business architecture as part of the organisation’s overall enterprise architecture.

Data/Information Architect

  • Partners with business and mission leadership to provide strategic recommendations to maximize the value of information assets via their creation, access and use.
  • Utilises a range of tools and techniques to provide the organization with a current and potential future-state view of the information landscape.
  • Assist technical and business leadership in developing information governance processes and structures.
  • Assist in the identification and management of information risk in the ICT and mission environment.
  • Ensure that the architecture identifies, prioritises and executes data and information related initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes

Technology/Application/Network Architect

  • Reviews submissions from projects and other ICT initiatives to identify areas of interface with Enterprise ICT Services
  • Facilitates the review and evaluation of proposals against existing architectural standards, guidelines, principles, design patterns and technical reference models.   
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and a source of guidance for projects to ensure architectural designs and solutions align with ASD’s emerging Enterprise Architectures.
  • Works collaboratively with delivery divisions to ensure technology implementation within ASD are aligned with current strategy and requirements.
  • Represent the interests of the ASD on a range of internal and external forums and committees
  • Assist and report to the Section Head in the development of reference architectures, blueprints, standards, principles and guidelines.

Enterprise Architect

  • Direct the development of enterprise-wide architecture and processes that ensure the strategic application of change is embedded in ASD.
  • Demonstrate expertise in identifying and prioritising market and environmental trends.
  • Draw upon project management knowledge to contribute to project plans and documentation.
  • Anticipate major changes affecting the organisation and leverage resources to embrace and implement change.
  • Analyse very complex enterprise issues, applying architectural expertise to identify and recommend courses of action.
  • Accountable to identify compliance issues between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions.

If you are successful in the application and assessment process, you will be placed into a merit pool and may be contacted for further testing as positions become available. These may be ongoing or non-ongoing opportunities.

These roles will be part of teams that will:

  • Deliver new capability under the REDSPICE program;
  • Deliver ASD's major capability programs and
  • Enhance and modernise existing capabilities.
