The Position

This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of an exciting team at Sydney Zoo in the new role of IT Analyst, utilising your skills in an area that you are genuinely passionate about. This role will commence as soon as possible.

The IT Analyst will be responsible for the management of the service desk, handle IT escalations, and maintain various systems, including POS and network infrastructure. The role involves overseeing daily tasks and projects, gathering requirements, troubleshooting Microsoft and network systems, and supporting event launches. The ideal candidate will collaborate effectively, solve problems independently, and communicate well with the team while seeking help when needed.

Skills, Knowledge, and Relevant Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar IT Analyst or IT Specialist role
  • Effective team player with strong relationship-building skills with both clients and colleagues
  • Recent and relevant commercial experience leading projects and maintaining & improving POS systems independently
  • Ability to confidently resolve 1st and 2nd level IT issues independently as well as troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and infrastructure problems
  • Understands the escalation process for complex IT issues and vendor relationship management
  • Skilled in project delivery, documentation, and handling urgent tasks for key business systems, processes, procedures, and any other relevant material
  • Experienced in gathering requirements and proposing solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to multitask multiple projects without impacting day to day responsibilities.
  • Creative problem solver with ITIL Service Desk experience
  • Capable of managing competing deadlines and collaborating with vendors
  • Passionate about continuous learning and taking on new responsibilities
  • Knowledgeable about company requirements and goals
  • Skilled in prioritising tasks, change management, and process implementation
  • Able to create clear and structured documentation
  • Methodical in troubleshooting and learning new systems
  • Strong organisational and time management skills

Desirable

  • Exposure to the ITIL framework and best practices is desirable 
  • Exposure to IT governance and Cyber Security principles is desirable 
  • Exposure to EFTPOS systems is desirable 
  • Exposure to AV systems is desirable 
  • Exposure to bookings and reservations systems is desirable 
  • Exposure to ecommerce is desirable 
  • Exposure to business intelligence and data analytics is desirable 
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology and/or a related discipline or equivalent experience is desirable 
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar IT Analyst or IT Specialist role is desirable
