The Role

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of shaping how Australians consume news and information across our social media accounts. You'll have the opportunity to craft compelling narratives, leveraging the power of social media and innovative distribution strategies to engage audiences like never before.

This role can be based anywhere within Australia.

The Job

As a Social Media Producer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Curating and producing captivating content tailored for social media platforms, ensuring our stories resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Actively participating in community management activities and looking for opportunities to start conversations with the audience to drive further commissioning decisions.
  • Analysing data and audience insights to optimize content distribution and drive engagement across multiple channels.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including journalists, editors, and designers, to bring our news offerings to life.
  • Staying ahead of the curve by embracing emerging trends and technologies in the digital landscape.

About You

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A deep understanding of social media platforms and their communities, including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp, with a knack for creating shareable and impactful content.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring our content is accurate, engaging, and aligns with ABC's journalistic standards.
  • The ability to effectively moderate comments and engage meaningfully with the online audience.
  • Proven experience in using audience insights to inform commissioning and content ideas.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
