Position Details

We are looking for a Statistical Data Analyst to join NCVER’s Research, Analytics and Reporting division, within the Data Services & Reporting branch.

This role involves compiling, analysing, and reporting on statistical data to produce engaging publications and data products. See examples of our work here:  https://www.ncver.edu.au/research-and-statistics.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Expertise in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and delivering actionable insights. 
  • The ability to translate complex data into meaningful narratives through engaging reports and data products for diverse audiences. 
  • A proactive approach to adopting and applying new statistical methodologies, developing technical papers, and preparing explanatory notes. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to undertake ad hoc analytics projects and collaborate with external stakeholders. 

To excel in this role, you will need: 

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience
  • Applied skills in querying, analysing, manipulating and interpreting large and complex datasets (SAS, Python or SQL preferred, other languages considered)
  • An analytical mindset with a curiosity to ask questions and solve problems. 
  • Proven experience working with complex data assets. 
  • Experience analysing survey data (highly regarded) 
  • A degree in a numerate discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, Actuarial Studies
